Redevelopment of an Operations Building in Versmold, 2009

The operations building of this mid-sized company in Versmold comprises a conglomerate of individual construction phases that had been added to the original building piece by piece since 1909 .The last stage was undertaken in 1990. The energy footprint in the building is very poor, which is why the company decided to carry out an energy redevelopment of the existing buildings. The architectural appearance of the operation was also to be improved in the process.

In order to achieve this, the plan is to give the entire building one uniform façade design. This will be in the form of a silver-coloured, horizontally structured aluminium façade to a height of approx. 4 metres and a contrasting anthracite-coloured smooth façade of aluminium sheets above this line. Furthermore the number of windows and doors was reduced in order to achieve the most harmonious and uninterrupted façade surface possible. A series of buildings were also demolished and their functions added to the main building in an extension section.
